Surviving the last days chapter 17 part 2
I’ll be honest, I have been struggling with this chapter. In my mind I’ve complicated the main point when it really is quite simple. The world has poured out so many fictitious and embellished versions of what the last days will be like and how to interpret the book of revelation, it’s no wonder we all have different expectations. The words are a warning to be prepared, not a series of scary events to get hung up on but opportunity for us to be aware and prepared.
“I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement. But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.”
Revelation 17:6-8 NKJV

When the days of the antichrist arrive, it will appear as if he is controlled and directed by a religion, one that has been adopted by the people of the world. This religion, depicted as a woman riding the beast, will speak to the world and turn even Christ followers to her direction and will. There will be a mass surge of people coming to this new religion in hopes that they will find peace in a world that is falling apart at the seems. The antichrist will promote this false religion and hold it up on a pedestal for the world to see and many fall in a trance and follow blindly.
““Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time. The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition.”
Revelation 17:9-11 NKJV
This religion will turn on the believers and execute those who will not join her. “Drunk with the blood of the saints” is how this is described. A removal of all who do not agree and follow the antichrist’s new religion. But then, it really won’t be a new religion, more of a surging of many religions that all began with the same lie, the same roots, and the same false gods with different names. When the antichrist appears to die from a fatal wound and come back to life as if nothing can harm him, many will fully believe he is a god and will worship him and his religion.
““The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.””
Revelation 17:12-14 NKJV
We must remember that satan is not God and his minions that do his bidding are only copycats striving to accomplish god-like things. We live in a word of advancements that cross the lines of right and wrong everyday. In the 90’s the christians were sure the mark of the beast would be a tattoo and now we are presented with the possibly of microchip implants and nearing technology.
We really ought to be focusing on our walk with God and keeping in His word daily so that we won’t be deceived by the lies of these false religions and sweet sounding temptations.
“Then he said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.””
Revelation 17:15-18 NKJV
As I go on with my day, Lord, let me remember that the enemy never sleep, he is ever seeking to snatch me from Your arms, but You, Lord, are stronger than my enemies. Your ways are higher, Your Love is stronger, and You have already overcome. Let me rest in the shelter of your arms and find peace in the hope that is You, Lord! Amen,
