Planning Out My Year. Finding the Perfect Planner

Updated: Jan 12, 2021

Are you looking for the perfect Planner? Do you need to organize your daily life a little more? Is it hard to find time for the things that matter most to you? Planning can help you accomplish so much more.

Picking out a Planner.

Everyone is ready for a new season to begin, many of us are hoping for major changes to take place in the world soon. Whatever comes, I've found that having a solid plan for the things I need to get done daily helps me stay on track and what I need the most is my daily walk with God. It easy to be distracted by late night bedtimes and early morning mishaps. Making my #Bible study time a priority is very important to me and the best way to stay on track is to write out my study in my planner.

If you don't have a planner yet, here are some great ones that are easy to use for Bible studies and other daily focuses you might have. You can also check out my Pinterest page for more Bible study resources and #printables.

  • The hope planner is a great planner if you are an artsy person and want to fill up your pages with doodles or stickers. Its a hard cover with coil binder that has a classy professional look with lots of possibilities. There are also printable options to add for more specific activities such as meal planning and party planning.

  • The Faithful Life planner is a similar style to the hope planner, with dedicated pages for notes on worship and and personal study time. This planner seems to sell out quickly, so if you take a liking to it, order before it's gone.

  • The Christian Planner and Prayer Journal has options for a classic book cover, spiral binding, or leather cover. Their Faith and Focus Planner has multiple pages for note taking and creative writing if you are a more journal minded planner.

Which planner did I choose?

My absolute Favorite planner is the Happy Planner. This year's will be my fourth in a row and I couldn't love it more. It has a plastic cover with custom ring binding but the options are seemingly endless. There are several sizes and styles to choose from and even a custom paper hole puncher if you want to make or print pages of your own. I'm a creative/crafty type and I love the opportunity to make something uniquely mine.

Paying the price.

To be honest, planners aren't always affordable if you are on a budget, but knowing when and where to get a discount can help. I always purchase my Planners at Michales or Joanns and the handy dandy #coupon emails are my best friend when I do. Many planners go on sale at the end of the year and get an even bigger discount just after the new year begins. This year my local Walmart even had some great Happy Planners with Disney themes. They also have a wide variety of different themes to choose from.

Happy Planners Themes:

  • Fitness + Wellness

  • Recipes and Mealplan

  • Budget

  • Faith

  • Floral

and many more...

They have all the stuff!

My favorite thing about the happy planner (next to the awesome layout options) is that they have so many different additional options to customize your #planner.

  • Note Pads

  • Workout Trackers

  • Stickers

  • Meal Planners

  • Folder pocket inserts....(My personal favorite)

To sticker or not to sticker.

As for the stickers, well, that is another story. I love adding stickers to my planners and I have tried a lot of them over the past few years but I find them expensive and many are unusable or do not fit my style. Some of the sticker packs I bought with my first Happy Planner still have several unused pages gathering in my desk drawer. *sigh* That's just my taste though. You may feel very differently and absolutely love every #sticker in the package. If you do plan to use a lot of them, I recommend purchasing them during a store sales event or checking into a printable version on Etsy to save a little money. This way you can print your own style stickers and only as many as you need

Never to late to get started.

If you are thinking it's too late to start a planner, I'm here to tell you it's absolutely not. You don't have start a planner at the beginning one the year or the start of a new month. Pick one you love, start when you are ready and enjoy the process.

Just for fun, I've attached a printable page of stickers for you to "try before you buy." I hope you have fun selecting and prepping your chosen planner, whatever brand or style it may be.

What you need:

  • a printer

  • a Cricut (Explore Series or Maker)

  • Sticker paper (I used silhouette brand)

  • fine pint Cricut blade

  • A Cricut cut mat (I suggest the blue or green one)

Have fun Little Sparrows. Happy #Crafting.
